We love smoothies at our house and since we are still trying to get back on track and eating better from the holidays we have been trying to find new recipes we like. This one was created by accident…I may or may not have gotten side tracked while blending and forgot to put a couple other ingredients in that I was planning on trying. But it turned out amazing. And according to the boys “mom this is my favorite.” And has been requested several times since.
We are loving our citrus season down here in the south west and have the best local orchard we buy all our citrus from. They are the juiciest oranges and the best flavor. So needless to say, we eat a lot of oranges around here so naturally, we have to add them to our smoothies.
I was originally thinking of using our normal smoothie base of Greek yogurt and a banana and we may still try that but this 3 ingredient recipe is holding us over for the time being.
And a side note: if you aren’t quite as lucky as we are to live on citrus lane and your oranges aren’t quite as juicy as ours, you may need to add a little liquid to the smoothie to help it blend. Water works great or you can add coconut water or even milk if you want. Whatever you like will work.
What is your favorite citrus fruit? Do you have a favorite smoothie you would love to share?
- 2 fresh oranges, peeled
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 cup frozen raspberries
- Blend ingredients together until smooth
- If it is too thick add a little extra liquid until desired thickness (ie: water, juice, coconut milk etc)
